I spent 30 years of my working life in one of the largest Oil & Gas majors globally, initially tasked with implementing a corporate email system, running on the IBM mainframe, in the mid 1980s. More responsibilities were added on, transfer made from functional to business line, cross postings undertaken to different parts of the world, managing larger teams & accountable for business P&L was a norm. Working with colleagues of different nationalities and in different timezones was a daily routine and it was a joy when everyone was single-mindedly focused on delivering better performance.

I retired in Q4 of 2015  and my last role was as the Global Programme Mgr in driving the various strategic cost saving initiatives for the Downstream Lubricants Business.

I come from a large Peranakan family comprising 12 siblings with me as the youngest. My mom was the Matriach and Life of the family. She kept us together despite losing my father to a sudden heart attack in 1966 (a year after Singapore became independant). My mom always went out of the way to help if she could, and perhaps this is why, the family was blessed to have been helped when my father passed. I am now a father of 2 young working adults & enjoy spending time with my wife Belinda in planning the next stage of our lives.
