Wok fried till fragrant, our Char Kway Teow is so shiok as the garlic, pork lard & sweet sauce with a dash of chilli, blends so well with the noodles, eggs, prawns and fresh cockles.
Some like it a bit wet whilst others prefer the drier version.
It is a sinfully delightful dish.
We are indeed fortunate that many masters of this dish are still around or have found worthy successors to carry on with their craft.
1. Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow
Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow is located within the Havelock Cooked Food Center at #01-07 Blk 22A Havelock Road and is appx 600m north east of the Tiong Bahru MRT station.

The daughter of the original owner is now behind the hot wok and she certainly has mastered the art of making the excellent slightly wet version of Char Kway Teow.
2. No. 18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow
This stall is located within the Zion Riverside Food Center at #01-17 70 Zion Road & is appx 300m west of the Great World MRT Station which is scheduled to commence operations from 2nd half of 2021.

This stall is in the Michelin Guide and the Owner has been sent overseas by the Singapore Tourism Board to represent Singapore cuisine at Food Festivals in Asia, Europe and Australia. Be prepared to join the queue as he only cooks upon order and will only serve when the dish is well made.
3. Hill Street Fried Kway Teow
Originally located at Hill Street Food Center which is no longer operational, this iconic Char Kway Teow stall is now located at the Bedok South Food Center at #01-41 Blk 16 Bedok South Road & is appx 1.3km or 15 minutes walk from the Bedok MRT Station.

Celebrity Chef Anthony Bourdain made the trip to sample a full plate of Char Kway Teow at this stall and is credited with the quote “how can anything this ugly be this good?”.
Ghim moh market uncle is back and whipping it up. Place a lot cleaner but he still has his grumpy look. Still good but feels smaller portion
Guan Kee Char Kway Teow is very good but the stall is often close in the week as the stall owner now in his 70s. He has a loyal following and you must be very fortunate to be there when he opens.
I think he ate Chwee Kueh and Chai Tow Kueh when he visited.
